Arsene Wenger addresses Man United style of play under Jose Mourinho

The Arsenal boss refuses to be drawn into a debate about Manchester United's style of play under Jose Mourinho

Arsene Wenger has refused to be drawn on Manchester United’s style of football under Jose Mourinho.

The Gunners will welcome the 20-time English champions to The Emirates in the Premier League on Saturday evening as Arsenal look to record a fourth successive Premier League win.

Arsenal are in fourth place in the Premier League table and four points behind Manchester United in second place as Mourinho’s side look to challenge Manchester City for the title.

The Manchester United boss has attracted criticism for his negative approach to their biggest Premier League games in the 2017-18 season so far.

The Red Devils produced a defensive approach in a goalless draw with bitter rivals Liverpool FC at Anfield before Manchester United were disappointing in a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

The 20-time English champions lost 1-0 to Premier League title holders Chelsea in their last Premier League game in October to raise questions about their style of play under Mourinho.

Arsenal will hope to replicate their north London derby display against Manchester United this weekend with attacking talents such as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in a rich vein of form.

Wenger, though, refused to be drawn on Mourinho’s tactical approach and warned his Arsenal players that Manchester Untied are a dangerous team.

“I haven’t seen them a lot and it is not down to me to judge the way they play,” Wenger told his media conference.

“I have just to look at the way we play and to prepare well for the game.

“They are a dangerous team, they have made fantastic results so to beat a team like that you need to be at your best and that’s what I want to focus on.”

Arsenal were 2-0 winners against Mourinho’s Manchester United side back in May.

The Gunners eased to a 3-0 victory over Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils men at the Emirates Stadium in October 2015.
