Arsene Wenger responds when asked if Man United will ‘park the bus’ at Arsenal

The Arsenal manager doesn't expect Jose Mourinho to adopt a negative approach to Man United's clash at The Emirates on Saturday

Arsene Wenger has suggested that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho won’t park the bus at Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners have won their last 12 games in north London following a 5-0 win against promoted side Huddersfield Town at The Emirates on Wednesday night.

Wenger’s key men Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez were all amongst the goals as the Gunners warmed up for the visit of the second-placed team.

Arsenal produced a commanding performance in a 2–0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby in front of their home supporters at the start of October.

The Gunners have netted eight times in their last three games and have kept three successive clean sheets since a 3-1 loss to leaders Manchester City.

Manchester United were criticised for their negative approach to a goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield in October before a 1–0 loss to defending champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Red Devils will face Arsenal and Manchester City in their next two Premier League games and can ill-afford to fall further adrift of Pep Guardiola’s side.

Asked whether he expects Mourinho to park the bus as the Manchester United manager has earned a reputation for doing in big games, Wenger told the media:

“No, I don’t expect anything special.

“I just expect us to be ready to recover now. Man United is a strong team and I expect us just to cope with the problems they will give us.

“They will attack as well. They will not only defend.”

Arsenal were 2-0 winners against Mourinho’s Manchester United side back in May.

The Gunners eased to a 3-0 victory over Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils men at the Emirates Stadium in October 2015.
