Chelsea prepared to rival Man United for top 29-year-old attacker – report
Chelsea are ready to compete with Barcelona and Man United for the signing of Mesut Ozil, according to reports
Chelsea are lining up a potential move to sign Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to reports.
Don Balon, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Premier League champions are ready to disrupt Barcelona’s plans to sign Ozil.
The same article states that the La Liga giants were confident of landing the World Cup winner in the January transfer window.
Indeed, Barcelona are rumoured to have made Ozil their second-choice target in the event Liverpool refuse to sell Philippe Coutinho.
According to the same story, Chelsea are now prepared to rival Barcelona and Premier League title rivals Manchester United for the 29-year-old’s signing.
Ozil has entered the final 12 months of his current contract to open up the possibility of the attacking midfielder leaving for nothing next summer.
Alternatively, Arsenal could decide to cash in on the former Real Madrid star in January if the Gunners give up hope of convincing Ozil to sign a new deal.
The Germany international worked under Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho during three seasons at The Bernabeu before a £42.5m move to Arsenal in 2013.
Ozil has won three FA Cup titles in four seasons since his big-money switch but hasn’t been able to fire the Gunners to title glory.
