ARSENAL will hope to take their fine form into the Champions League after they ended a five-year wait for a Premier League victory over Chelsea in convincing style on Saturday.

The Gunners welcome Swiss champions FC Basel to Emirates following their draw at the Parc des Princes in their Champions League opener against PSG earlier this month.

Team news

Francis Coquelin will be tested today after the Frenchman sustained a knee injury during the 3-0 win over Chelsea last weekend in the same region as a problem which sidelined him last season.

Wenger said: “He has a knee injury in the same place he had last year, that’s a negative of the day.

“We don’t know if the damage is as big at the moment, we have to wait for 48 hours but he left the stadium in a brace. I’m a bit worried over that.”

But Aaron Ramsey, Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck remain on the treatment table, with the former expected back after the international break.

Granit Xhaka could come up against his elder brother Taulant, who plays for Basel. The duo met at Euro 2016 when Granit played for Switzerland and Taulant played for Albania.

Where can I watch it?

The Emirates Stadium will host the clash, with kick-off scheduled for 7.45pm on Wednesday September 28.

Match stats

This is the first meeting between the sides ever. But Arsenal have won all four of their previous competitive encounters with Swiss clubs (8 goals scored, 1 conceded), their last one dating back to the 2005/06 Champions League group stages (2-1 & 1-0 v Thun).

Arsenal have lost just three of their last 38 home games in the Champions League Group Stages, winning 29 and drawing six.

Basel have won all nine of their league games so far this season, and they drew their first Champions League game at home to Ludogorets of Bulgaria.

Basel are winless in their last five Champions League games (D3 L2), scoring just three goals in those five games.

What they said

Arsene Wenger is wary of Basel, who have a good record against English opposition.

He said: "Everyone will think that Basel will be easy. Then you look at the results of Basel against English teams, and you realise it will not be easy.

"They beat Manchester United, they beat Chelsea, they beat Liverpool.

"So let’s prepare properly and keep our feet on the ground because in our job, one thing I know if you are not prepared you are quickly hit on your head."
