Arsenal stopper Emiliano Martinez joins La Liga outfit Getafe on a season-long loan
Argentine keeper made five first team appearances for the Gunners last season
ARSENAL keeper Emiliano Martinez has joined Getafe on a season-long loan.
The 24-year-old was third choice at the Emirates last season but penned a new contract at the Gunners before the end of last campaign.
It is just the latest in a string of loan deals for the Argentine keeper.
Since joining the Gunners in 2010, he has spent time at Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham and Wolves.
But he was given a crack at first team football last season having made five appearances and keeping three clean sheets.
He will now be hoping to impress boss Arsene Wenger and get frequent playing time in Spain's top league.
And the move could also confirm that second choice keeper David Ospina will remain with the club.
The Colombian was being heavily linked with a move to Fenerbache but it appears he will now fight Petr Cech for the No1 jersey.
Arsenal transfer news
Meanwhile contract rebel Alexis Sanchez joined Arsenal training for the first time on Wednesday following a summer of transfer speculation.
Reports claim that the Chilean remains reluctant to sign a new deal despite being offered a mega "£290,000-a-week contract."
Manchester City and PSG have been tracking his signature but with Neymar on the verge of signing for the French giants and Wenger unwilling to sell to a Premier League rival, Sanchez could be staying where he is for the time being.
