But Pedro is starting after his head injury and Alvaro Morata is named on a strong bench alongside fellow signing Antonio Rudiger.

Alexandre Lacazette will lead the line for Arsenal as the new arrival is given another chance to impress following his club-record switch.

Sanchez missing out was to be expected after Arsene Wenger confirmed playing the Chilean would be a risk.

He said: "For us it’s important to build his [Sanchez's] fitness and put him in a reasonable condition before we expose him to tough tests. Maybe he will play.

"He looks good. He had a good rest so needs to work on his fitness. But once he’s in a game he’s sharp and looks like he’s never been away."

Aaron Ramsey is another high-profile absentee for the Gunners as he comes back from a muscle problem.

For Chelsea, Willy Cabellero is also named on the bench after Antonio Conte snapped him up on a free to provide back-up for Thibaut Courtois.

And former Blues stopper Petr Cech will face his former side in a replay of last season's FA Cup final, which Arsenal won 2-1.
