WEST HAM are closing in on a £32million transfer for Sporting Lisbon ace William Carvalho, according to reports.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to several Premier League clubs in recent seasons including Arsenal.
Portuguese outlet Record claims that the Hammers are currently in advanced negotiations with the Primeira Liga leaders.
And he is reportedly due to undergo a medical in East London next week.
West Ham are prepared to smash their club record for a second time this summer to capture the highly-rated Portugal midfielder.
Carvalho, who has scored nine goals in 137 appearances for the club in four seasons, has a reported £40m release clause in his contract which still has three years to run.
Sporting are trying to hold out for as much as £36m before sanctioning the move, but the Hammers are hopeful of winning the battle over fees.
The Portugal international, who joined Sporting Lisbon in 2012, is understood to want a move to the Premier League.
