Arsenal transfer news: Gunners target Karim Benzema ‘agrees two-year contract extension’ at Real Madrid until the summer of 2021
French star is set to pen a new deal at the Bernabeu that will ensure his future under boss Zinedine Zidane until 2021
ARSENAL'S slim chances of signing Real Madrid's Karim Benzema appear to have gone with the striker set to sign a new contract, according to reports.
The Gunners were reportedly ready to reignite their interest in the France international this summer.
But Benzema, 29, will now see out his best days at the Bernabeu as he closes on a new two-year contract extension, write the Express.
It will mean Benzema will pen a new deal until the summer of 2021 as he remains a focal point in Zinedine Zidane's side.
Arsenal have had a long-standing interest in Benzema and came close to signing the star in 2015.
With boss Arsene Wenger unable to land him again this summer, he opted to splash out £42million on fellow Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette.
Benzema has remained Real Madrid's first choice striker despite the talented forwards that have come through the Real Madrid ranks.
And Arsenal fans will be hoping their club's business is not yet finished after falling to a 1-0 defeat at Stoke on Saturday.

They are ready to raid Inter Milan in a bid to sign talented midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

Arsenal are also reportedly in the race to sign Real Madrid ace Marcos Llorente.
But the Gunners face competition from Atletico Madrid and Sevilla to secure his signature.
