A SURPRISE pitch invasion during the Game4Grenfell match postponed Jose Mourinho going in goal for the penalty shootout.

The high-spirited affair at Loftus Road ended in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United boss Mourinho conceding late on.

But at the full-time whistle, hundreds of spectators ran onto the pitch to say a quick hello to the celebrities heading off the field.

It delayed the penalty shootout as stewards battled to get the supporters off the pitch.

A number of fans then ran back onto the pitch after Les Ferdinand's side won the penalty shootout.

Many spectators watching from home couldn't help but vent their frustrations over the "stupid" pitch invasion.

One Twitter user wrote: "Stupid pitch invasion is pretty much ruining the day... wait till after pens."

Another said: "Why is there a pitch invasion at a charity game?!"

One QPR fan claimed the pitch invasion ruined the occasion when he wrote: "Why do the kids need to ruin it with the pitch invasion..."

The penalty shootout finally went ahead but Mourinho couldn't make a save as his side ended up losing 5-4.

The charity match proved a huge success with host of big names and firefighters who battled the blazes getting minutes on the pitch.

Mo Farah opened the scoring before Sinclair bagged a brace. Kasabian's Chris Edwards then scored a late equaliser as the match finished 2-2.
