Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick enrages fans by saying he prefers horse racing to football

The club official sends Gunners fans into meltdown after comments made during an interview at Newton Abbott racecourse

ARSENAL chairman Sir Chips Keswick felt the wrath of Gunners fans by choosing horse racing over football.

The Emirates chief also revealed he was relieved his struggling club were not playing this weekend.

Keswick, worth about £1.75billion, was interviewed by SkySports while at Newton Abbott racecourse where his horse, Double Treasure, triumphed in the 2.50pm Handicap Chase.

When asked to talk about his patience with racehorses, he labelled himself as "very" patient.

He then added: "Let's rejoice in racing. I much prefer [to football] at the moment."

The interviewer then joked that it was a positive that Arsenal were not playing this weekend, to which he replied: "Exactly."

Following a turbulent transfer window, the Arsenal chief appears to have lost all hope for the north London outfit.

Arsenal were left embarrassed after failing to sign Thomas Lemar on deadline day after a bid of £92m was rejected swiftly by the Frenchman.

Alexis Sanchez's switch to Manchester City collapsed and now the Gunners talisman is reportedly not wanting to play for the club anymore.

A 4-0 defeat to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side last week just about topped off a summer to forget at the Emirates.

Arsenal are now left without their star striker and without the support of the club's most powerful figure.

Gunners fans swarmed to Twitter to express their anger regarding the chairman's lack of faith and respect for the club.
