Teenage midfielder leaves La Liga side Espanyol after six years with the club to complete a dream move to Jose Mourinho's Red Devils

MANCHESTER UNITED have landed Spanish wonderkid Arnau Puigmal.

The 16-year-old midfielder took to Instagram to confirm the "dream move" following his departure from Espanyol after six years.

Posing alongside Manchester United legend Andy Cole, he wrote: "Very happy and proud to announce that I am a new Manchester United player, a dream come true.

"It's time to work, come on Red Devils."

The Spanish youth international penned his United contract earlier this summer but was forced to wait for international clearance before breaking the news.

Puigmal, a Spain youth international, caught the eye of United favourite Nicky Butt who oversees United's academy recruitment.

United scouts first noticed the young starlet at the Mediterranean International Cup where he was crowned most valuable player.

The likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Philippe Coutinho have also starred in the same tournament.

Puigmal has been told of the plans to develop him into a first-team player at United over the coming years.

He joins Aliou Traore, who joined from Paris Saint-Germain, and Di'Shon Bernard as summer arrivals for United's youth set-up.

United fear losing even more ground to neighbours City and their state-of-the-art academy.

Although the Citizens are banned from signing youth players from fellow English clubs, they are still able to snap-up talent from around the world.

But United will feel like they have stolen a march by securing the highly-rated Puigmal, whose exit is a massive blow to La Liga side Espanyol.
