Philippe Coutinho faces possible Liverpool comeback against Manchester City this weekend after failed Barcelona move

JURGEN KLOPP is ready to throw Philippe Coutinho back into his squad for the trip to title rivals Manchester City.

The Brazilian has yet to feature this season after trying to push through a £138million move to Barcelona.

Liverpool cited his absence from the previous match-day squads as a back injury but the 26-year-old had no problems in making an impact for his national side during the World Cup qualifiers last weekend.

Coutinho was left heartbroken that Liverpool blocked his dream move to the Nou Camp after he handed in a transfer request.

But now the player and club are ready to put differences aside when they travel to Pep Guardiola's unbeaten team.

He is unlikely to start the match with Klopp keen to play the same side that thrashed Arsenal 4-0 almost two weeks ago.

The German boss has told his first-team stars to get behind Coutinho after returning from international duty.

And he wants Liverpool fans to do the same after they were left betrayed by their star player's wish to leave Anfield.

Meanwhile Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is pushing for his first start following his £35m deadline day move from Arsenal.

The midfielder could not resist a thinly-veiled dig at his former boss ahead of his debut.

The Ox said: “I felt this was definitely the place for me. The way the manager’s teams play, that’s inspirational. How he pushes and encourages you.

“And the thing that really stood out was his relationship with the players.

“How close he seems to bond with them. When you’re looking to progress, having that relationship with the  manager, that definitely helps.”
