Sam Allardyce rules out returning to Crystal Palace after taking phone call from chairman Steve Parish today
FORMER Eagles boss Sam Allardyce has ruled out the chance of a return to Crystal Palace following the sacking of Frank de Boer.
The Dutch boss was dismissed from Selhurst Park on Monday after losing his fourth of four league fixtures with the club, namely the 1-0 defeat at Burnley.
Allardyce took a phone call from Palace chairman Steve Parish - who was involved in a Twitter spat with Eagles fans - seeking his thoughts on what the club should do next.
The former England boss was not offered the job, but Parish was quick to seek advice from the 62-year-old when the position became vacant.
On Sky Sports, Allardyce said: "I spoke to Steve late this afternoon and said you know, for me, I would not be ready to come back.
"I've made the decision and I would not feel comfortable at this time. I'm not ready to take on a new position.
"I'm enjoying my life too much at the moment and I'm enjoying watching everyone else under pressure.
"I'm very sad after all the hard work that was put in last season to rescue the team. It was a great end to a tough start at Crystal Palace."
De Boer promised Parish that the club would evolve under his leadership, but the chairman now admits that he made a mistake appointing the Dutchman.
Following the sacking, Allardyce told Sky Sports News: "I have just heard the news that Frank has left today which is obviously very disappointing for him and for Palace.
"But it shows the panic in football today is ever increasing due to the size of the money and the fear of losing your position in the Premier League."
Allardyce ended his previous managerial spell at Selhurst Park on a positive note, but has no intentions of returning just yet.
Following a tough and stressful term with Palace, the football manager said that it could be his last job after a dramatic, physically and mentally draining season.
Prior to this, the 62-year-old left the role as England manager after just 67 days in charge following allegations of malpractice.
