Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says he is ‘not surprised’ by Frank de Boer’s sacking after just four league matches

Portuguese manager says nothing in football surprises him anymore after he was given the axe at Chelsea

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has admitted he is "not surprised" by the quickfire sacking of Frank De Boer.

The Dutch boss became the first Premier League managerial casualty of the season after just four matches and only 77 days in the job.

De Boer, who penned a three-year deal with the Eagles in the summer, lasted 85 days at Inter Milan in his previous job.

And Mourinho, who fumed at Mark Hughes following his side's 2-2 draw at Stoke on Saturday, says his previous sacking at Chelsea means it has become a near-routine.

He said: "I was sacked (by Chelsea) as a champion, (former Leicester manager Claudio) Ranieri was sacked as a champion.

"Frank de Boer is sacked after four matches and next season something incredible again, so nothing surprises me. That's the world where we are.

"That's the world where many of you enjoy and also contribute to the kind of pressure that managers are involved in.

"But in football nothing surprises me."

De Boer's reign at Selhurst Park is the shortest ever after it was revealed chairman Steve Parish had lost confidence in the Ajax legend after just three matches.

And they will be hoping their next appointment, thought to be Roy Hodgson, can keep them into the Premier League.

The ex-England gaffer is closing in on a two-year deal with the club after SunSport revealed he had already indicated he wanted the job.

Palace are believed to have sounded out former boss Sam Allardyce about a return as well as talking to Hodgson.

But Big Sam was reluctant to comeback just four months after quitting the club and claiming to have retired from football.
