Gary Neville takes to Twitter again to hammer home his view that Sadio Mane shouldn’t have been sent off

GARY NEVILLE has took to Twitter to confirm his view that Sadio Mane should not have been sent off for Liverpool at the weekend.

The former Manchester United star has used a challenge from West Ham defender Winston Reid to fuel his online debate.

During a Premier League meeting between West Ham and Huddersfield, Reid escaped unpunished after his boot made clear contact with Steve Mounie's face.

His boot clearly connects with the face of the 22-year-old, but referee Kevin Friend felt no need to punish the defenders actions.

Mounie dropped to the floor clutching his face, but Reid was allowed to remain on the pitch.

The Manchester United icon has latched onto the opportunity to compare this challenge to Mane's outburst on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium.

Mane was shown a straight red card by referee Jon Moss after crashing into goalkeeper Ederson with his boot raised high in the air.

Following his departure, the visitors went on to get thumped 5-0 by Pep Guardiola's side.

The Brazil keeper required eight stitches following the challenge, but Neville insists that it was the wrong decision from the experienced official.

Neville, who was commentating on the game for Sky Sports, said: "It's a 50-50 really and Ederson just gets there first.

"Sometimes a stadium can tell you if it's a bad challenge and there wasn't great reaction from anybody.

"I don't think it's a red card."
