Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino aims sly dig at Arsenal and Wigan after dismissing England’s two domestic trophies

Spurs face Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday but the Argentine manager insists that his sole focus is achieving success in the Premier League or Champions League

TOTTENHAM boss Mauricio Pochettino couldn't resist a sly dig at fierce rivals Arsenal whilst having a pop at Wigan too.

The Gunners have won the FA Cup in three of the last four seasons but haven't won any other silverware since becoming Premier League champions in 2004.

Spurs face Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday but Pochettino has dismissed his side taking it seriously.

The Argentine gaffer says his priority remains challenging for the Premier League title and Champions League.

The Whites finished second in England's top flight last season but crashed out in the Group Stages of Europe's elite competition.

And Pochettino is ready to throw his youngsters into the mix against Barnsley and reveals the lack of importance in England's domestic cups.

He said: "The pressure is to win the Premier League or Champions League. They are the two big trophies.

"I'd love to win a cup for our fans but Tottenham must build a project for the Premier League and Champions League.

"If we forget those two, it's a big mistake. For a big team to win trophies, it means the Premier League or Champions League.

"Wigan won the FA Cup. Where is Wigan now? League One. That is the most important example."

Despite Spurs' Wembley woes, Pochettino is ready to ring in the changes with striker Fernando Llorente set for his first start since signing from Swansea.

Harry Winks is expected to play a part whilst 17-year-old Tashan Oakley-Boothe could make his debut.
