But the Frenchman is more pleased about the way Arsene Wenger’s team have bounced back from August’s 4-0 mauling at Anfield, remaining undefeated so far in September with four clean sheets in five games.

Lacazette, who scored with a first-half header and second-half penalty against the Baggies, said: “I am not especially looking for records.

“I am looking for stability with the team. Everything is not perfect but we had possession, we did not concede. Even if I think we can do better, it is good already.

“We are unbeaten in September. We have reorganised ourselves defensively and everyone is working together and that is how you can see the difference.

“I have not felt particular panic. We knew that hard work would pay off and that is what we are doing.

“Let's not get over-excited and carry on.”

Lacazette can feel the Arsenal fans getting behind him following his club record £52m move from Lyon in the summer.

He said: “It’s great have the crowd behind you. I thank them for this vote of confidence.”

Arsenal’s busy week continues with a Europa Clash in the Ukraine against BATE Borisov on Thursday night.

Boss Arsene Wenger is unhappy with the fixture schedule which has forced his side to play on a Monday evening, a Thursday night and then at lunchtime on Saturday.

Wenger suggested the Gunners’ Premier League game against West Brom could have been swapped with Brighton’s Sunday game against Newcastle.

But the Arsenal boss added: “There is no need to talk to the Premier League about that because it’s the television who decides.”
