Chelsea unable to recall Tammy Abraham from Swansea season-long loan despite release clause

The 20-year-old will be unable to return to his parent club in January. The only clause that Chelsea included in the deal was to enable them to recall the striker if he wasn't given enough game time.

TAMMY ABRAHAM looks as though he will be spending the remainder of the season at Swansea after Chelsea failed to include a recall option for the striker when they sent him out on loan.

A clause in the striker's contract stated that he could be recalled if he wasn't given adequate game time, but the Swans already look well on track to exceed these requirements.

The 20-year-old made his mark last season during a spell on loan at Bristol City, where he scored 26 times, and was rewarded the accolade of the highest-scoring teenager at Championship level ever.

He has made a solid start to the season at Swansea and found the back of the net five times for the Swans.

Chelsea may now look to regret their omission of a recall clause, in the deal they agreed for the 6ft3 player, after their shaky start and injury woes with Alvaro Morata.

According to the Evening Standard Antonio Conte will not be able to recall the striker from his spell at Swansea

The striker agreed terms of a five-year deal at Chelsea, just prior to being sent to Swansea on a season-long loan.

Chelsea's intention with the youngster were to leave him in Wales for the season to ensure he got regular game time.

He has flourished under Paul Clement and achieved Chelsea's plans of getting him match-fit without the pressures of playing for the defending champions.

The England U21 star looks as though he will see out the year at the Liberty Stadium and return to his parent club when the season finishes.

The 20-year-old came through the ranks at Chelsea and is reportedly earmarked for a spot in their squad next season.

In the meantime, Chelsea may be required to splash the cash in January in order to bring in other upfront options.
