Ryan Giggs indicates interest in managerial positions at Everton and Leicester City

The Manchester United legend is eyeing up a new challenge following the departures of Ronald Koeman and Craig Shakespeare

MANCHESTER UNITED veteran Ryan Giggs has voiced his interest in two vacant Premier League managerial positions.

The 43-year-old stood down as the Reds assistant manager in May 2016 following the appointment of Jose Mourinho.

The Foxes parted company with Craig Shakespeare after the side managed just one win in eight games this season.

Michael Appleton has been temporarily handed the position on an interim basis.

Ronald Koeman was axed as Everton chief after the Merseyside outfit slipped into the relegation zone following a 5-2 defeat to Arsenal.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Giggs said: "I think you look at those two teams, Leicester being champions two seasons ago, Everton being a fantastic club with a fantastic history, for me these are clubs I would be interested in.

"However, there are a lot of coaches out there who would be interested in those positions.

"I've said all along that I'd be open to clubs which share the ambitions of myself.

"I want to improve clubs and improve players, to enjoy working for them and for players to enjoy the challenge.

"There are clubs in the Premier League which would be good jobs but also in the Championship and League One. It's more about the philosophy for me than the stature of the club."

When asked whether he was shocked to see two big names loose their jobs so early in the season, he said: "I don't think you're surprised in this climate that clubs change managers so quickly.

Giggs is among a handful of experienced bosses eyeing up the position at Goodison Park, including Sean Dyche, David Moyes and Carlo Ancelotti.
