Arsenal transfer news: Manchester City will wait until next summer before making a move for Gunners star Alexis Sanchez

The Chilean was close to leaving the Emirates for the Etihad in the summer, but Arsenal pulled the plug on the deal

MANCHESTER CITY have decided NOT to make a move for Alexis Sanchez in January, according to reports.

The 28-year-old is desperate to quit the Gunners and tried to force through a move last summer.

Pep Guardiola's side have no intention of making a cut-price £30 million offer for the Chilean, as they would rather make sign him as a free agent next summer.

The Daily Mirror reports that City still harbour resentment towards the Gunners because of the way they carried out negotiation for Sanchez in August.

The report also claims after Arsenal told City that the former Barcelona forward was not-for-sale, Arsenal changed their stance when it became clear that Sanchez would not sign a new contract.

And Arsene Wenger's late attempt to get the Etihad club to agree a swap deal that would see Raheem Sterling going in the other direction was rejected by Guardiola.

The north London club then accepted a £60m offer from City just before the deadline, but then pulled out of the deal when their £90m bid for potential replacement Thomas Lemar of Monaco was rejected by the French side.

However, the Premier League leaders may face competition from Everton as their chiefs want to make  a shock move for the contract rebel.

Sunsport reported the Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri would love to bankroll a £30million deal for the Chilean if Arsenal decide to cash in on their contract rebel.

Scouts for the manager-less Toffees have suggested targets other than Sanchez but Moshiri believes a big name will be better and wants an improvement in the team’s form to attract stars like  Sanchez.

Sources close to Sanchez reveal he is swaying towards seeing out his contract at the Emirates but the mersey side club still plan to test the water.
