SANTI CAZORLA has returned to the gym for the first time as he plots his comeback from long-term injury.
The Arsenal star missed a massive 43 matches last season after an ankle injury sustained in October kept him until the end of the season.
Cazorla, 32, needed was initially expected to miss just three weeks.
The injury was much worse than first feared and Cazorla eventually needed multiple surgeries on his ankle and then Achilles.
But the midfielder is hoping to return next season.
The Spanish international has now filmed himself working hard on strengthening his foot.
He wrote he was hoping "to be back soon... important to have a good balance."
Some reports stated that Cazorla may not EVER play for the club again.
Cazorla rubbished those claims, but is still not expected back until at least October as the midfielder attempts to beat the odds.
He said: "You feel like throwing in the towel but my desire to play football is above everything.
"I haven’t been given a time frame. It’s very difficult to put a date, but I don’t think it will be before five months."
Despite his obvious impact on the Gunners - Cazorla is a firm fan favourite - he has struggled with injuries since joining the club in 2012.
Cazorla has played just 180 matches in five seasons with the club, missing 71 games in that period.
