Manchester United ready to go above £40million for Nemanja Matic after Eric Dier deal becomes impossible
Jose Mourinho wanted Tottenham star Dier but was priced out and has now turned his attentions to the Chelsea midfielder
MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to stump up over £40million to land Nemanja Matic, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho had Eric Dier as his No1 transfer target but has been forced to look elsewhere with Tottenham refusing to sell.
And now the Independent are reporting that United are turning their attention to Matic and are willing to fork out a huge sum to get him.
United believed the Blues would refuse to do business with them after they hijacked a deal for Everton's Romelu Lukaku.
But the Serbian international has made it clear he wants to leave Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford is where he wants to go.
Juventus were interested in the former Benfica star but are said to have been put off by his price-tag.
Following the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, Matic’s opportunities for first team football at Chelsea look limited.
The 28-year-old is keen to reignite his relationship with Jose Mourinho, with the pair already associates from their time at Stamford Bridge.
