Arsenal launch bizarre new 2017-18 away kit with two-tone style in nod to the ’90s
Gunners will wear the new blue strip for the first time when they take on Benfica this weekend
ARSENAL have launched their new away kit for next season - which they claim is a nod to one of their strips in the 1990s.
The Gunners have revealed a two-tone blue strip that brings back memories of the colours the likes of Dennis Bergkamp and Ray Parlour wore two decades ago.
The club will wear the new shirt for the first time this weekend when they take on Benfica in the Emirates Cup on Saturday.
Arsenal have a long tradition of having blue in their kit, and they have had that colour away strip several times in the modern era.
It is the third new strip the Gunners have unveiled for the coming season, made by sportswear firm Puma.
The traditional red and white home strip has gone down well with supporters - as has the decision to branch out with a third kit.
That black kit with a pink trim has been well received by Gunners fans who have been quick to snap it up since it went on sale earlier this month.
But the blue strip has been greeted with a mix reception among Arsenal supporters - with some complaining about the colour and others preferring the black strip.
