Sanchez was due back at Arsenal on Sunday but posted an Instagram selfie claiming to be sick.

Wenger has since confirmed he has the flu.

The Frenchman is also adamant contract rebel Sanchez, whose current deal expires next summer, will be at the Emirates next season.

But Sanchez is reportedly desperate to link up with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

And Arsenal legend Alan Smith has urged his former club to cash in on the £60million ace NOW.

The forward has also been linked with moves to Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain this summer - but made sure only City can land him by demanding a staggering £400,000 a week.

Sanchez has already rejected Arsenal's £275k-a-week deal.

It is thought the club are preparing another contract of £300k a week for one year, with a promise to review next summer.

But Sanchez reportedly hopes his personal plea with the Gunners will allow for a sensational exit.
