Arsenal players look glum and barely break into smiles after winning Emirates Cup following 2-1 loss to Sevilla

ARSENAL might have won the Emirates Cup, but you would never have guessed it judging from the players' looks!

The Gunners lost 2-1 to Sevilla thanks to Steven N'Zonzi's wonder strike, but still walked away with the trophy having scored more goals in their two games.

The Spanish club won both of their matches after beating RB Leipzig 1-0 yesterday, however the North London outfit eclipsed their win - beating Benfica 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Alexandre Lacazette's equaliser against the La Liga side proved to be crucial, as his strike left both sides on nine points apiece.

But adding another piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet failed to leave the squad in a merry mood.

As captain Per Mertesacker was presented with the cup, he and his team-mates could barely muster a smile in front of their adoring fans.

The big German was one of those who looked almost embarrassed to have taken home the trophy, as did Aaron Ramsey.

Alex Iwobi and fellow youngsters and newcomers to the side - Cohen Brammal, Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson were also looking rather glum.

Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Lacazette proudly grinned with their winners medals, with all three impressing this weekend.

The former Southampton forward netted twice against the Portuguese giants, as he looks to assert himself in Arsene Wenger's plans this season.

Wenger then revealed after the game that it is ideal to have Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil playing as they enter the final year of their contract, as it will make them try even harder.

Arsenal will hope for more silverware when they take on London rivals Chelsea at Wembley Stadium next week in the Community Shield.

They are aiming to win the trophy for the third time in the last four seasons, and beat the West Londoners for the title in 2015 thanks to an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain strike.
