Manchester United players could earn £4m in bonuses EACH if they win Premier League and Champions League double

As well as £2m on offer for triumphing in those competitions, £90,000 is up for grabs for winning the FA Cup, and £70,000 for the League Cup

MANCHESTER UNITED are planning to hand their mega-money squad the richest bonus pot in the club's history.

The Red Devils stars in the past including Wayne Rooney would bank £1m a man if they won the Premier League or Champions League.

But it is understood the United squad would receive DOUBLE that this coming season - netting £2m a piece.

Old Trafford Chiefs are thrashing out the terms of the deal behind the scenes ready for the coming campaign.

The bonuses - £2m each for winning either competition - would be on top of the £250,000-a-week wages Romelu Lukaku takes home, for example.

And SunSport understands the United squad with net a cool £90,000-a-piece for winning the FA Cup, and £70,000 for the League Cup.

A United source said: "Plans are being put in place for the biggest bonus pot this club has ever seen, it's huge.

"It's all happening behind the scenes and will put anything that the players had previously in the shade.

"There is so much money in the game now that it can happen. The new TV deals have been a game-changer.

"There's a lot of optimism the club can win their first title since 2013 and this is just another incentive for the players."

We revealed last season how the United squad earned £38m between them for winning the Europa League.

Mourinho's side also won a place in this campaign's Champions League after a 2-0 win over Ajax in Stockholm.

Nearly every player in his side effectively received a 25 per cent pay rise for being in the elite competition.
