LEICESTER City starlet Demerai Gray is set to snub interest from Tottenham, Liverpool, Everton and Borussia Dortmund to stay and fight for his future with the Foxes.

Boss Craig Shakespeare says the 21-year-old is happy at the club, despite rumoured showdown talks regarding frustrations about his game-time.

Gray has made a total of 42 appearances for Leicester since signing from Birmingham in January 2016.

The Foxes activated the release clause in Gray's contract - worth a reported £3.7m - as the winger made his debut in the FA Cup against Tottenham just a week later.

The England U-21 international appeared ten times - all as a substitute - when the Foxes picked up their shock Premier League title two seasons ago.

The winger has been in and out of the team  and is apparently growing tired by a lack of starts.

That uncertainty led to speculation regarding his future at the club, with Everton, Spurs and Liverpool all interested in snapping up Gray.

Shakespeare confirmed that the player is definitely in his plans for the upcoming season and has assured Gray himself.

Speaking after Leicester's pre-season defeat at the hands of Burton Albion, Shakespeare said: "They [Gray's agents] came in to have a meeting with the director of football, I wasn’t privy to that.

"We’ve had conversations, myself and Dimi. It is well-documented. We have spoken about trying to give him more game-time and we are both happy with that."

The rumoured departure of Riyad Mahrez to Roma may open up a spot for the young winger to prove his worth to the Leicester manager.

If the Algerian does end up staying, Gray may struggle to nail down a starting berth, facing competition from Mahrez, Marc Albrighton and even Ahmed Musa - who can be fielded as a winger.

The Foxes are also hoping to cling on to midfielder anchorman Danny Drinkwater, who is being eyed up as Chelsea's replacement for Manchester United new boy Nemanja Matic.

Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho is close to a move to Leicester after undergoing a medical in a proposed £25m deal.
