REPORTS in Spain are claiming that Arsenal had a stunning bid rejected by Borussia Dortmund for Ousmane Dembele this summer.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently believed to be involved in a battle for the French attacker.
But Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Arsene Wenger also attempted to bring the star to the Premier League.
The 20-year-old has only been with the German giants for one season.
However, his scintillating form since his arrival from Rennes has caught the attention of Europe’s big guns.
And it appears that Arsenal were one of those interested in trying to recruit him.
Wenger is desperately trying to bolster his squad this summer after missing out on the Champions League last season.
He has already smashed the Gunners’ transfer record to sign Alexandre Lacazette and is also trying to secure Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

However, his interest in Dembele now appears to be over as the two La Liga clubs scrap it out for his services.
Madrid are believed to be leading the chase and are in advanced talks to get lure him to the Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, Barcelona want him to replace Neymar.
The Brazilian is set to join Paris Saint-Germain for £198m and is set to pen a five-year deal, earning £500k a week after tax.
He had to be restrained by a number of his colleagues after a fiery encounter with goalkeeper Roman Burki earlier this week.
