Barrow, who has joined the Royals on a four-year contract, made his Premier League debut for Swansea against Arsenal in 2014.

The fee, which was undisclosed, is believed to be in the region of £1.5million.

He has appeared 55 times for the Welsh side, as well as going on loan to Nottingham Forest, Blackburn and Leeds in the Championship.

Barrow started his career in Sweden and joined Swansea in a £1.5m move from Ostersund. He has been capped by Gambia four times.

Stam said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Mo to Reading and I’m delighted that we have been able to add another player to our squad ahead of the start of the new season.

“Now all our focus is on the challenge that lies ahead on Saturday and our trip to QPR.”

But the Berkshire club lost the play-off final to Huddersfield on penalties.
