Victor Moses makes amends for last season’s FA Cup final embarrassment by scoring opener in the Community Shield
Nigerian defender received a second yellow card for diving last season as the Blues lost to the Gunners at Wembley
VICTOR MOSES has made amends following his embarrassing sending off in last season's FA Cup final against Arsenal by scoring the opener in the Community Shield.
The Nigerian was the quickest to react when Gary Cahill's header looped over Arsenal's defence and smashed it home from close range.
The former Crystal Palace and Wigan star broke the deadlock a minute after the interval as he punished some sloppy defending by the Gunners.
Arsenal failed to clear Willian's corner from the right flank - the ball fell to Granit Xhaka who booted the ball up in the air but it only reached the edge of the box, allowing Cahill to head it back into box.
Despite being sent off in last season's FA Cup final, Moses was eligible to play for Antonio Conte's side.
The 26-year-old still has a one-match ban but the FA allowed him to play, due to the fact the match is considered as a friendly.
Moses will now be unavailable to play in Chelsea's Premier League opener against Burnley.
It was Moses's first goal in 27 games for the Blues in all competitions, with his last goal coming against Tottenham in November last year.

Following last season's FA Cup final, Conte defended Moses' dive.
Conte said: "There is a lot of tension in these moments and sometimes you could be tired. I don’t think if my player dived he did it with a real intention of doing it.
"We have arrived at the end of the season and many players are tired, and then there is a lot of pressure.
"It’s not a good situation to dive, for sure, but Moses is an honest player and if he did this it’s only because he was tired. He didn’t want to cheat the referee."
