Frenchman was in high spirits after Wembley win but blamed himself for last season’s league shocker
ARSENE WENGER believes a “united” Arsenal can win the title — as he blamed himself for last season’s Prem shocker.
Boss Wenger lifted the Community Shield for a third time in four years after Olivier Giroud’s penalty shootout winner against Chelsea.
Asked if his Gunners can end their 13-year title drought, Wenger said: “It is a dream to make the fans happy.
“I’d like them to stand by the team — to be united and together. But it is down to us to keep the positive atmosphere around the team.”
Wenger, who signed a new two-year deal in May, once again blamed uncertainty over his own future for Arsenal’s failure to nab a top-four spot last time out.
He said: “A lot was created by my own situation — so maybe I made a mistake.”
Victor Moses fired Chelsea ahead but Pedro saw red and sub Sead Kolasinac’s header set up penalties — which Arsenal won 4-1.
Wenger said: “Even when we were 1-0 down we didn’t panic. When Kolasinac came on he was outstanding.”

Defeat left boss Antonio Conte even more frustrated at Chelsea’s summer transfer work.
Asked about missing out on his top targets, he snapped: “I hope in future to get a different question!
“The loss is disappointing. A lot of people told me the foul on Willian was a penalty.”
