Michy Batshuayi denies laughing at Alvaro Morata during Chelsea’s penalty shootout defeat to Arsenal

Belgian ace reveals on Twitter: 'Some people really believe I laughed at my team-mate and/or us losing? I wasn't'

CHELSEA striker Michy Batshuayi was caught smiling in the wake of team-mate Alvaro Morata’s Community Shield penalty shootout miss.

But the Belgian has denied he was laughing at his team-mate's misfortune in the Blues' defeat at Wembley.

And it has now been clarified that Batshuayi was actually caught on film during the trophy presentation in Arsenal's 4-1 win on penalties after the teams had drawn 1-1 in normal time.

The Belgian striker wrote on Twitter:

'Wow lol some people really believe I laughed at my teammate and/or us losing ? Sorry to disappoint but I wasnt.

'Im enjoying every goal for us scored by anyone in the team, thats the only thing you have to know. have a blessed day (sic)'.

Batshuayi was not happy when an internet outlet posted the video on their website, accusing them of pushing 'boring clickbait'.

But he accepted the criticism he faced and even replied to a fan who sent him praise.

Batshuayi wrote: 'Thanks (but dont lie because I know i didnt play that well lol)'.

Morata and Batshuayi are now in direct competition following the Italian's £58million arrival from Real Madrid.

The Belgian international has been in good form in pre-season after a prolific end to the 2016/17 campaign which featured him scoring the title-clinching goal.

Roman Abramovich has just forked out a fortune on Morata but his place in the starting XI is not a formality.
