London Euston delays: Manchester United and West Ham fans in danger of missing first Premier League game of the season after being left stranded at Euston

A fatality on the line near the Milton Keynes area has blocked all lines to Manchester with fans advised to get Kings Cross to Leeds or Sheffield

WEST HAM and Manchester United fans face missing the opening of the Premier League season after being left stranded at Euston Station.

The clash between the Red Devils and Hammers is due to kick-off at Old Trafford at 4pm later on today.

Reports are circulating that there has been a fatality on the line near the Milton Keynes area.

All trains leaving Euston station have since been delayed, and there are currently no trains going directly into Manchester.

Virgin Trains tweeted: "Due to emergency service dealing with an incident between Milton Keynes & Watford, all lines are blocked.

"Updates to follow."

Fans travelling to the Theatre of Dreams from Euston have been advised to make their way to Kings Cross and stop off at Leeds or Sheffield, and then get the train from there to Manchester.

However, the train won't be getting in at Leeds until at least 4pm, meaning the majority of the away end will be empty during the first half.

Virgin Trains have confirmed the death of a member of the public in a series of tweets replying to frustrated passengers.

They have responded to commuters by tweeting: "Services are delayed due to a fatality on the line."

Virgin have stated any passenger that has been disrupted by more than 30 minutes can claim delay repay.

National Rail have since tweeted: "Major disruption between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction expected until 14:00."

There has been no word yet whether the match at Old Trafford will be delayed, as Manchester United have so far failed to issue a statement.

West Ham meanwhile have quote tweeted Virgin Trains' tweet and implored their supporters to keep updated ahead of the latest travel news.

A BTP spokesman said: "BTP officers were called to Bletchley rail station at 11.10am on Sunday, August 13, after a report that a person had been struck by a train.

"Officers from the BTP and medical emergency staff attended and at 11.17am a deceased male was located.

"Officers are treating the death as non suspicious.

"Police are working to establish the man's identity and inform the next of kin."
