Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho must win Premier League title this season, claims Gary Neville
Former Red Devil made his comments before seeing old side smash four goals past West Ham at Old Trafford
GARY NEVILLE insists Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will have no excuses if he fails to win the title this season.
The former Red Devil made his bold claim before watching United smash four goals past West Ham at Old Trafford.
Mourinho’s men are second-favourites to top the Premier League table at the end of the season after a big summer of spending.
Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku both enjoyed fine debuts as United ran riot at the Theatre of Dreams.
And Neville believes the Portuguese tactician must replace Antonio Conte as the top dog in English football on the back of his latest transfer spree.
Neville told Sky Sports: “You can’t just drop your expectation because they haven’t won it for a couple of years. They have to win the league. Mourinho has to win the league here.
“The money that’s been spent, his own personal expectations and what he’s always delivered has been titles, so I would say United have to approach this season to win the league.
“I don’t think it’s good enough to say ‘they’re going to get back into fourth’. That isn’t an ambition when you’ve spent the money that’s been spent and amassed the players that Mourinho has now amassed.”

Despite Neville’s warning, the Special One believes United are in a great position to challenge for silverware after a second summer of arrivals.
He said: “As I have told them all recently, during my long career I have never worked with a group I like as much as I like them.
“Our three new signings – Victor, Romelu and Nemanja – are all very lucky to have joined a group like this, because it is easy to work with them. I believe that we are a better team than last season.”
