Chelsea manager Antonio Conte lining up late swoop for Manchester United target Ivan Perisic
Blues already have Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso to play on the left but Inter Milan winger could also operate on the right
CHELSEA could weigh-in with a bid for long-term Manchester United target Ivan Perisic.
It won't come as the greatest surprise to learn that the Blues are looking to boost their squad after a shock loss to Burnley.
The Inter Milan winger is rated at £48million - and so far United have failed to match that price.
They were thought to have turned their back on the 28-year-old after having a £35m bid rejected.
And now, according to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea are on the case.
Perisic, 28, scored against United in pre-season in Singapore.
Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho is desperate to land one more signing this summer with a winger his main priority.
So he could ask chief executive Ed Woodward to go back to Milan with a higher offer.
PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER NEWS
Former Inter Milan and Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo claimed at the weekend that Perisic could end up at Stamford Bridge instead.
Crespo said: “It’s possible he joins Chelsea – but he plays on the left and on the left you have Eden Hazard, Perisic and Marcos Alonso.
“Maybe he could come in through the middle or to the right.
