'They rely on him'

Anthony Martial set to stay at Manchester United as family member reveals exit is ‘not a possibility’

There has been much speculation regarding the Frenchman's future at Old Trafford  but his cousin thinks he is where he is needed in Jose Mourinho's squad

ANTHONY MARTIAL is going nowhere because Manchester United "rely on him", according to the attacker's cousin.

After scoring in United's 4-0 thrashing of West Ham in Sunday's league opener, the forward's family member took to Twitter saying his exit is "not a possibility".

Jema posted about his cousin's future on his Twitter account then deleted it according to Manchester Evening News, but not before some United fans could take a screen grab.

His tweet read: "For Manchester United, Anthony's departure is not a possibility, even on loan. They rely on him."

It isn't the first time he has discussed Martial's career on social media.

In July he confirmed interest from Inter Milan but was quick to point out his cousin's intention to stay at Old Trafford, saying "his head is in Manchester and he is focused to make a good preparation".

That may be music to United fans' ears as the 21-year-old has began to emerge unscathed on the other side of Mourinho's tough love.

Martial's song was blared out by the Stretford End as he warmed up and he acknowledged his fans' support.

The fan favourite provided further entertainment when he scored United's third goal of the game.

His impressive start to the season may also put to bed some of the departure rumours, the latest being a rejected bid from Tottenham.

Although a deal to Inter Milan may still be on the cards in a move to send Ivan Perisic to Manchester.

The French international had a spectacular debut season at Old Trafford scoring 11 league goals after his £36million move from Monaco.

But with the arrival of Mourinho, Martial spent the majority of time on the bench, scoring just four league goals.

However, Mourinho's tactics may have proven beneficial to Martial who has worked his way into the boss's good books throughout the pre-season.

Mourinho sung his praises after his dazzling dribbling skills set up a goal against Real Madrid.

He said: "He's a young player, still time to learn, still time to improve, still time to develop, and it's also his personality.

"I can say that he is training better than before, he's working harder than before, it's a question to bring his talent more in a consistent way."
