PAUL POGBA has revealed he feels a lot calmer with Nemanja Matic alongside him in the Manchester United midfield.

Pogba had an effective - if not exactly inspired - first season back at Old Trafford following his £89million move from Juventus last summer.

But United fans expect a lot, lot more - and it looks like the £40million arrival of Matic from Chelsea has given the Frenchman blast-off he was looking for.

The two men certainly hit it off in Sunday's 4-0 Premier League thrashing of West Ham.

And Pogba told The Telegraph: "Against West Ham, Matic was starting behind and I could worry more about attacking. I feel good playing that way."

It seems that Pogba did feel constrained in 2016/17 as United battled their way into the Champions League thanks to winning the Europa League.

He felt the burden of that record transfer fee but is now ready to really prove his worth.

He said: "“When I left [in 2010] I always felt like I had missed something at United because I wasn’t a first XI player.

"Now I’m happy to be back. I grew up a lot in Italy and I have come back as a man.

“I am always confident and now it is my second season. I know more about the Premier League and I adapt more with the team.”

🚨 EXCLUSIVE OFFER: Premier League Top Goalscorer 🚨

ROMELU LUKAKU has come in to 2/1 to finish as the Premier League top scorer.

The Belgian scored twice against West Ham on Sunday to put an immediate market down in the Golden Boot race.

Harry Kane, who has NEVER scored a goal in August, is 2/1.

And there is value to be had in Alexandre Lacazette.

He is 8/1 even after scoring on his debut against Leicester last week.

Sun Bets have a blinding special offer for top scorer.

Pogba completed 87 per cent of his attempted passes against the Hammers, got on the scoresheet and created two chances.

He'll be looking to repeat the dose at Swansea City on Saturday as United seek to maintain the momentum they hope will take them all the way to the Premier League title.

"You could make so many assists, so many goals but if at the end of the season you lose the league it doesn’t matter.

"What you may have done individually is good but what matters is winning trophies.”
