MANCHESTER UNITED are eyeing up a move for Thomas Lemar, according to reports.

The Frenchman had been the subject of a £45million bid from Arsenal earlier in the summer — but the Gunners’ interest appears to have cooled.

And the Daily Record reports United are weighing up a move, but have been told to cough up £55million by Monaco.

At the start of the summer, Jose Mourinho had made it clear he wanted to strengthen in four areas — attack, central defence, defensive midfield and on the wing.

Romelu Lukaku has solved the forward problem, Victor Lindelof came in at the back and Nemanja Matic has slotted in seamlessly in the middle of the park.

However, they still need to add a wingman.

Ivan Perisic appeared destined for Old Trafford but now seems set to stay at Inter Milan, while more ambitious attempts for Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo were rebuffed.

Marcus Rashford started on the left against West Ham and impressed — as did Anthony Martial, who replaced him for the last ten minutes.

But, should Lemar be available, he would represent a decent option for Mourinho.

At just 21, he has excellent resale value in today’s market — with title-winning experience to boot.

Lemar is one of a number of talented players at Monaco last season who may not be there by the end of the window.

Stars to have left include Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva to Man City and Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea.
