Manchester City to return with £25m offer and a £140,000-a-week deal for West Brom star Jonny Evans
Reports claim Etihad chiefs are plotting a second bid for the former Manchester United defender but Hawthorns outfit will hold firm as they attempt to keep hold of Northern Ireland international
WEST BROM are reportedly bracing themselves for a bid of £25million from Manchester City for Jonny Evans as the Premier League prepare to offer the star a £140,000-a-week deal.
Pep Guardiola’s side have already had a £18m bid rejected by the Baggies for the defender.
But City are set to return to the table after the weekend with a new offer, according to the Daily Mail.
However, as SunSport exclusively revealed, West Brom will only consider selling the Northern Ireland star for £35m.
But the whopping contract awaiting the veteran, as claimed by the Daily Mirror, at the Etihad could prove too strong a pull.
Former Manchester United centre-half Evans, 29, missed the opening Premier League weekend.
The experienced stopper was ruled out of the victory over Bournemouth with a hamstring injury and is likely to miss Saturday’s trip to Burnley.
Hawthorns boss Tony Pulis confirmed: “Jonny felt his hamstring in training on Friday and we didn't want to take a chance.

“He went in to see the doctor at the training ground and came to the ground and told me on Saturday it was sore. So we take his word for it.”
Despite West Brom’s determination to keep hold of Evans Guardiola is just as keen to get his man - but Pulis is looking to bolster his squad rather than weaken it.
He is set to tie-up a £15m move for Tottenham’s 24-year-old Kevin Wimmer this afternoon.
And the Austrian’s arrival is likely to spell the end of Albion’s bid to sign Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough.
City have few options in their search for a homegrown centre-half and are expected to get close to West Brom’s valuation with a new offer of guaranteed cash plus increased incentives.
