ARSENAL fans are convinced Joel Campbell is on his way back to the Emirates to rescue their season after the Costa Rican posted a cryptic tweet.

Late on Saturday night, the Gunners forward took to Twitter to show off an image of him with his feet up on the plane.

Campbell, 25, accompanied the snap with a host of emojis, including the Union Flag and a football.

Naturally fans guessed that meant the Costa Rica international was on his way back to the Emirates after a serious knee injury last month ruled him out of the start of the season.

And Gunners supporters seem thrilled with the prospect of Campbell lining up in the starting XI in the coming weeks.

Arsenal slumped to a disappointing 1-0 loss at the hands of Stoke on Saturday evening, as Arsene Wenger's squad again failed to reach top gear.

Could Campbell - who's been on the books of Arsenal since 2011, including FIVE loan spells away - be the answer?

Gunners fans on Twitter seem to think so, particularly as a left-wing-back in Wenger's now-favoured 3-4-3 formation.
