Arsenal let highly-rated academy star Ismael Bennacer leave for Italian side Empoli on permanent deal

Gunners reportedly allowing Algerian midfield starlet to depart the Emirates on a permanent basis as he prepares to seal move to Serie B outfit

ARSENAL are surprisingly allowing highly-rated Ismael Bennacer to leave the club for Empoli.

The 19-year-old midfielder was thought to be one of the brightest talents within the Gunners academy.

Having previously been out on loan, it appeared that the club would send him out again in order to further his development.

However, Sky Sport in Italy are claiming that his move to the Serie B outfit in Italy will be a permanent one.

Bennacer has only made one appearance for the Arsenal first-team and it did not come in the Premier League.

That came in October 2015 as he replaced Theo Walcott from the bench before going off injured himself during the League Cup defeat.

He was loaned out to French second division outfit Tours last season.

The playmaker made 16 appearances in Ligue 2 in what was a decent breakthrough campaign.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce were among the clubs linked with a loan move for him over the close-season.

But it seems he is ready to end his time at the Emirates and attempt to fulfil his potential elsewhere.

Bennacer joined Arsenal from Arles in 2015.

Although no fee has been reported, he still has two years remaining on his deal with Arsene Wenger’s men and is unlikely to be allowed to depart for nothing.
