Deja Roo

Wayne Rooney nets against Man City in almost identical goal as four years ago – and the SAME fans are snapped giving him stick

Dedicated City fans show they have sat in the same seats as five years ago - as the same faces are seen giving him a hard time after scoring

MANCHESTER CITY fans had a horrible case of deja vu as they wathched Wayne Rooney net his 200th Premier League goal last night.

The Everton striker, who re-signed for the Toffees from Manchester United earlier this summer, scored the opener in his side's 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

And his goal bore an eerie resemblance to the second of two he netted for United in December 2012, just months after City won their dramatic first Premier League title.

It was what turned out to be Sir Alex Ferguson's last season in management before retiring.

And Rooney was pivotal that day as United won 3-2 at the Etihad and Robin van Persie grabbed a late winner before the Dutchman inspired the Red Devils to their 13 Premier League crown.

But last night - after an underwhelming final season at United - Rooney showed he still has a spring in his step as he netted his second goal in two games for his boyhood club.

He also joined Alan Shearer on a double tonne of Premier League goals, with the Blackburn and Newcastle legend on 260.

Like 2012, the 31-year-old scored from a pass from the right hand side of the box, with English youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin this time providing the supply.

And as he wheeled away in celebration to his right, the same fans were caught on camera giving Rooney some lip in the stands, clearly showing their dedication with the same season ticket seats.

There were a few 'V' signs coming from some members of the crowd, but the Everton striker clearly revelled in the banter.

He joked on Twitter: "Always nice to see a few familiar faces."

Rooney and wife Coleen had some exciting news last week as they found out they are due to be parents for the fourth time.

He added after the game: "The manager has made it clear he wants to play me in attacking positions.

"The thing for me is to play. Last year I didn’t play enough games and I paid the price for that. I played a lot of games over the last few weeks and I feel good.

"It was nice to score at the Etihad, I’ve scored a few times here. It was a sweet moment and I’m sure the red half of Manchester would have enjoyed that."
