Why isn’t Tottenham vs Burnley on TV when neither side is in the Europa League and the game is on Sunday?

Tottenham will play second fiddle to Wembley's other commitments as they take on Burnley

TOTTENHAM have a third Sunday assignment in a row as they take on Burnley in the Premier League.

But unlike matches at Newcastle and at home to Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino's clash with the Clarets will not be televised.

That has left some Spurs fans a little confused as to why the match is on Sunday, when neither they or Burnley were playing in the Europa League.

Here is all you need to know.

Why is Tottenham vs Burnley on a Sunday?

There are normally two reasons for Premier League teams to play on Sunday, rather than the standard Saturday 3pm kick-off.

One is TV scheduling and the other is a Europa League match on the previous Thursday night.

But in this case, Tottenham are making way for the rugby league Challenge Cup final between Wigan Warriors and Hull FC.

As Spurs are renting Wembley, they must play second fiddle to any other events at the stadium.

What time is Tottenham vs Burnley on?

Tottenham vs Burnley will kick off at 4pm on Sunday, August 27.

When did Tottenham last win at Wembley?

Tottenham's Wembley form has been a hot topic after last season's disastrous Champions League campaign at the national stadium last season.

But Spurs did manage to win their final group game against CSKA Moscow.

The 3-1 victory saw Mauricio Pochettino's side qualify for the Europa League where they were knocked out by AA Gent of Belgium.

You then have to go back to 2008 for Tottenham's only other victory at the new Wembley.

A Dimitar Berbatov penalty and a Jonathan Woodgate extra time header saw Juande Ramos' Spurs beat Avram Grant's Chelsea 2-1 in the League Cup final.
