Silva managed Carrillo at Sporting Lisbon and the duo won the Portuguese Cup together in 2015.

He signed for Benfica in 2016 and featured 24 times last season as they secured a domestic league and cup treble.

Carrillo, who is 26 years old, has played for the Peru national team 35 times.

Watford announced that the player has joined the Premier League club on a season-long loan.

The Hornets will have the option of making the move permanent at the end of the season.

Carrillo started his professional career with Peruvian club Alianza Lima, before joining Sporting in 2011.
