Simon Mignolet dropped from Liverpool’s squad to face Arsenal, with Loris Karius starting and Danny Ward taking up the bench spot
SIMON MIGNOLET has been dropped from Liverpool's squad to face Arsenal, with Loris Karius starting and Danny Ward on the bench.
Jurgen Klopp has cut the Belgian No1 from the entire 18-man squad, despite starting every game this season.
Mignolet had started both Premier League clashes in 2017-18, as well as the the two-legged Champions League playoff tie with Hoffenheim.
In those four games the Belgian has shipped seven goals, including three in the disappointing opening day draw against Watford.
However, he did crucially save a penalty in the first-leg of the European showdown with Hoffenheim earlier this month.
News has baffled Liverpool fans on social media, as Mignolet does not appear to be injured or ill, has no suspension and is not in talks with any clubs regarding a transfer.
Twitter users have had their say, with some saying it's mind games from Klopp, while other have suggested the Belgian stopper is on his way to Napoli.

A further tweeter suggested: "Very strange by Jurgen go drop Mignolet for such a big game...huge pressure on Karius now."
One social media user added: "Karius has been bad but has the potential to be better. We've seen enough of Mignolet to know that this is all he is."
Mignolet was dropped at a similar stage 12 months ago by Klopp, only to regain his place later in the season after Karius endured an horrendous run between the sticks.
