Arsenal transfer news: Guillem Balague rubbishes claims Gunners are in for Real Madrid starlet Marco Asensio
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to the Emirates, but will not be leaving the La Liga champions this summer
ARSENAL have ZERO chance of signing Real Madrid's whizkid Marco Asensio, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
The 21-year-old has established himself as one of Europe's top youngsters after a series of outstanding performances for Los Blancos - recently banging in two wonder goals in each leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
Gunners fans have been begging the club to bring in the former Espanyol ace to the Emirates before the close of the transfer window.
A recent rumour suggested Arsene Wenger was lining up a whopping £72million bid - with Asensio demanding emergency talks with the La Liga champions.
However Balague completely dismissed the speculation on his Twitter account, claiming there is absolutely "no chance of it happening."
He said: "On Asensio and Arsenal. No chance of it happening. The buy out clause is higher than £78m, but confidential (Real says is "dissuasive").
"More importantly, Asensio has got not intention of leaving Real Madrid at all. He'll renew his contract soon. Arsenal know it.
“Arsenal was in touch with Asensio before he signed for Real Madrid. His agent played with Arsenal till the Real offer materialised.”
The Spanish international is determined to pen a new deal at the Bernabeu, with the Champions League winners poised to reward him with a new contract.
Since he burst onto the scene with Madrid last season, he has become a key player for Zinedine Zidane's side - scoring 12 times in 42 games.
He netted against Juventus as Real claimed their 12th European title back in June, and has developed a reputation as a scorer of sublime strikes.
With contract rebel Alexis Sanchez reportedly demanding £400,000-a-week to stay in North London, Arsenal are keeping an eye out for potential replacements.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could also be on his way out of the club, while Paris Saint-Germain star Julian Draxler is a target for the FA Cup champions.
