Burnley’s shock season-long loan move for Inter Milan ace Gabriel Barbosa collapses over work permit

Brazilian striker now looks destined to join either Benfica, Las Palmas or PSV Eindhoven to end his Serie A nightmare

BURNLEY look to have lost out on Inter Milan target Gabriel Barbosa.

It seems the Clarets' bid to sign him on loan for the season has collapsed.

Their bid has come unstuck over their failure to secure a work permit for the Brazilian striker, according to the Evening Standard's James Olley.

Barbosa has not been short of potential suitors.

Everton, Tottenham and West Ham were all interested in snapping him up at one time or other.

Not to mention Southampton, Leicester, Stoke and Swansea.

But it was Burnley who moved ahead of the pack for the 20-year-old who cost Inter £26.4million from Santos just 12 months ago.

Inter are keen to offload Barbosa because he has actually failed to make a single start since he joined them.

For several months it was assumed he would be loaned out with no option to buy.

But with Thursday night's transfer deadline looming he still hasn’t worked out his next destination.
