Burnley make loan bid for Everton winger Aaron Lennon but Ronald Koeman wants him to stay
Doubts over the future of Kevin Mirallas look to have scuppered Clarets' hopes of landing former Tottenham winger
BURNLEY'S attempt to lure Aaron Lennon away from Everton on loan looks doomed to failure.
Having failed to land Gabriela Barbosa from Inter Milan, the Clarets' have now discovered Everton boss Ronald Koeman is unwilling to lose the ex-Tottenham man.
Winger Lennon, capped 21 times by England, has been at Goodison Park since 2015.
But even though his first-team starts have been limited, the Daily Mail says Koeman wants him to stay given the uncertainty over Kevin Mirallas's future.
Lennon, 30, managed five goals in 25 Premier League appearances in his first season with Everton.
But he struggled for game-time last season and struggled with mental illness issues for much of 2016/17.
He has since enjoyed a full recovery and so far this season has appeared twice as a substitute against both Hajduk Split in the Europa League and in Saturday's 2-0 league loss at Chelsea.
Lennon said in the summer that he wants to be playing regular football again.

Championship side Birmingham - managed by Lennon’s former manager at Spurs, Harry Redknapp - are also interested in taking him.
Burnley, meanwhile, are keen to add to their squad.
Boss Sean Dyche eyed Lennon as his seventh summer signing.
The Clarets have already brought in Chris Wood, Jack Cork, Charlie Taylor, Phil Bardsley, Jon Walters and Adam Legzdins.
