Brighton confirm the capture of Newcastle’s out of favour Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul on season-long loan
Chris Hughton secures his former Magpies stopper as he bolsters his Seagulls squad with the arrival of Holland international from Magpies
BRIGHTON have confirmed the signing of Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul.
The out of favour Dutch stopper has joined the newly-promoted club on a season-long loan deal.
Krul, 29, played under Seagulls boss Chris Hughton during his time in charge at St. James' Park and will now link-up with his former boss.
He travelled to the South Coast from the North East this afternoon before passing a medical and finalising his switch.
And Hughton is delighted to get the international on-board as he attempts to keep Brighton in the Premier League in their maiden campaign.
He told his side's official website: “I know Tim from my time at Newcastle and he is an excellent professional that has a vast amount of experience at both club and international level.
“He’s played an extensive amount of games in the Premier League, as well as playing in the Europa League and his experience will also help benefit the other keepers in the squad.”
Krul made 157 appearances for the Magpies and will now provide competition for fellow summer recruit Mathew Ryan between the sticks.

Rafa Benitez had made it clear that the experienced 'keeper had no future on Tyneside following his return to the club in pre-season.
Following their relegation in 2016, Krul left the club for Ajax on loan but later joined AZ Alkmaar in January after failing to break into the Dutch giants' side.
Benitez had instructed him to train with Newcastle's youth side since he came back this summer.
Krul began his career with ADO Den Haag before moving to Newcastle in 2005.
He spent time on loan at Falkirk and Carlisle United before establishing himself as No1 at the Magpies.
