Arsenal away day guide: Red Star Belgrade flights, tickets, hotels, and Serbia visa info

ARSENAL are breaking new ground as they travel to uncharted territory in the Europa League.

The Gunners' first away game will be at BATE Borisov, before they head to one of Europe's most intimidating stadiums to take on Red Star Belgrade.

Here is everything you need to know to watch Arsenal away at the 1991 European champions on Thursday, October 19.

How do I get to Belgrade?

The cheapest option is to fly from London Luton via Wizz Air, which has flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Return flights typically start at around £100 but prices can increase rapidly when demand is high.

A more flexible, but expensive, option is to fly from Heathrow via Air Serbia, which operates daily flights.

How do I get to the stadium?

The Marakana (not the Brazilian one!) is just under three miles from the city centre and walking would take about 50 minutes.

Supporters can get a bus or tram in the direction of Banjica from just about anywhere in the city centre and get off at the Yugoslavia Museum.

But a taxi may be a safer option on matchday.

It is also highly likely that Arsenal fans will be given a police escort to the stadium.

Do I need a visa to travel to Serbia?

No. Travel to Serbia is visa-free for UK nationals.

How many tickets have Arsenal been allocated and how much will they cost?

Arsenal have been handed an initial allocation of 1500, with the possibility of extra tickets depending on sales.

Tickets cost £10, with away fans to be located in part of the South Stand.

Where to drink

All bars in the vicinity of the stadium will be alcohol free, so away fans are likely to head to Obilicev Venac street near Republic Square before the match.

Bars in the city centre must close at 1am by law, so fans looking for a later night may be inclined to head out of town.

Where to eat

Head to the picturesque Skadarlija Avenue for some of the best mixed grill in the region (Serbian portions are huge!).

For a takeaway option, gyros and cevap (do not call it kebab) stalls are plentiful and tend to cost £2-3.

Where should I stay?

Accommodation is plentiful and hotels and apartments are available from around £30.

Are Arsenal offering official travel to the match?

Arsenal haven't announced any tour packages for away games so far this season, but a package in Belgrade may be announced when tickets are released.
